Within the framework of the program, which was established in the 1967-1968 academic year within the Institute of Health Sciences and started science specialist training in the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, special courses in the fields of prosthetics, orthosis applications, rehabilitation and biomechanics began to be given. Due to the rapid developments in the field and the increasing interest in this field, education and training started with the acceptance of the Prosthesis-Orthosis and Biomechanics Program as a new program under the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation of the Institute of Health Sciences in the 1996-1997 academic year.
Graduates who complete this program can make specialized evaluations and use physiotherapy and rehabilitation practices for individuals in need of orthoses and prosthesis within the patient and healthy population receiving physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, develop their competencies at the level of expertise by doing clinical and academic studies specific to this field, conduct and practice research at an advanced level with their developed professional skills at an advanced level. Graduates of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Prosthesis-Orthosis and Biomechanics program graduate with a "master's" degree.
